Juice Feast Day 5

May 7, 2010

This will be a short post because I have begun my liver/gallbladder flush protocol and need to lay down and focus on releasing…

On the juice feasting side of things, today was my best day yet in terms of feeling physically balanced, clear headed, and vibrant. I have gone on quite a few 10 day silent meditation retreats, and the feeling I get a few days into the retreat is the same type of heightened sensory awareness I feel today… especially in regards to nature. When I went out for my daily nature walk, it was as if everything was in technicolor. The green of the plants was a brilliant green, the song of a hummingbird was intoxicatingly melodic, the smell of jasmine the sweetest perfume I have ever smelled…well, you get the picture. I expect this heightened sensory awareness to come and go throughout the feast. I sure appreciate it when it is there as it is enjoyable and helps keep up the motivation.

I am getting much more into the swing of things with figuring out which fruit/veggie combinations taste good together. Since I am drinking 1 whole quart at a time, if it tastes nasty, it is a real bummer. I tried a new veggie I have never juice before that came in my weekly CSA delivery from Capay Valley Farms:  baby bok choy. I juiced it 3-4 little baby bok choy with 1/4lb baby spinach, 2 green apples,a generous handful of cilantro, and 10 carrots. I then topped off the quart with some thai young coconut juice. The texture and taste was off the hook! It was smooth, and the sweetness was perflectly balanced with the right amount of pungency and body from the greens. I made a 2nd quart with 2X as much of all the greens, one less apple, the same amount of carrots and coconut water–it was just as delicious.

I have not had anything but water and some ginger tea since 1pm, as this is the protcol for the flush. All this writing about juice has gotten me feeling even more hungry, so I will write more detailed reflections tomorrow.

Here’s to me rolling some stones!
